Get involved

The COVID-19 pandemic impacted many of us in different ways. There are lots of ways to take part in the Day of Reflection to suit you and how you’d like to remember and reflect.

Plan an event

From small gatherings with family and friends to larger community events, you can plan a Day of Reflection event that feels right for you.

Ideas from past Day of Reflection events include:

  • having a small get together at home with loved ones
  • holding an event at work; this could include sharing information and resources, creating displays for awareness or raising money for charity
  • organising an event for the wider community, like a memorial walk in a green space, a service of reflection or using a venue to offer a supportive drop-in space

Other ways to get involved

Planning or attending events is not the only way to take part. Here are some ideas for activities that people and groups have used before.

  • Making a ‘mini memorial’ to place in your window or elsewhere to spread awareness.
  • Lighting a candle in memory of someone you have lost.
  • Holding a moment of silent reflection for others.
  • Sharing memories or photos of loved ones or writing your experiences down.
  • Donating to a charity that helped you or your community during the pandemic.
  • Signing an online book of remembrance, to leave a digital tribute.
  • Performing an act of kindness for a friend, family member or neighbour.
