The COVID-19 pandemic impacted many of us in different ways. There are lots of ways to take part in the Day of Reflection to suit you and how you’d like to remember and reflect.
Plan and submit an event
If you plan to host a Day of Reflection event, you can submit your event to be featured on our interactive map. The map will be published shortly.
From small gatherings with family and friends to larger community events, plan a Day of Reflection event that feels right for you.
We saw organisations get involved in a range of different ways in 2025:
- Communities met up in person for a coffee and a reflective walk around a park or memorial space.
- Commemorative activities like a ‘memory wall’, wreath laying and a minute’s silence were set up or held in shops, libraries and community spaces.
- Churches and other faith groups, bereavement organisations and charities adapted existing services to include reflection on the pandemic.
Other ways to get involved
Planning or attending events is not the only way to take part. Here are some ideas for activities that people and groups have used before.
- Making a ‘mini memorial’ to place in your window or elsewhere to spread awareness.
- Lighting a candle in memory of someone you have lost.
- Holding a moment of silent reflection for others.
- Sharing memories or photos of loved ones or writing your experiences down.
- Donating to a charity that helped you or your community during the pandemic.
- Signing an online book of remembrance, to leave a digital tribute.
- Performing an act of kindness for a friend, family member or neighbour.
- Donating to a charity that helped you or your community during the pandemic. For charities in England and Wales, check the charity register.
